President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump departed from the White House on Tuesday morning en route to Texas, where Hurricane Harvey has dropped more rainfall in 72 hours than the area would normally see in an entire year. As the first couple disembarked from Air Force One in Corpus Christi, liberal reporters immediately began freaking out over the message on Melania’s hat.
When the first lady left Washington, D.C., this morning, she was sporting an olive green bomber jacket, aviator-style sunglasses, black pants, and a matching T-shirt. However, it wasn’t just her shoes which stirred controversy. According to Daily Mail, Melania was seen in a pair of four-inch Manolo Blahnik heels, which social media users were seemingly appalled by.
How could the first lady possibly feel it was appropriate to don such flashy footwear for a trip to a flood zone, the idiots on Twitter asked. Of course, their outrage was revealed to be sorely misplaced, as usual, when Melania changed into a pair of sneakers during the flight down to Texas.
As soon as the Trumps touched down in Corpus Christi, though, a new controversy was ignited when the media saw the hat Melania was wearing.
First lady Melania Trump wore a baseball hat that said “FLOTUS” as she exited Air Force One upon landing in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Tuesday.
The first lady had her hair pulled back in a ponytail under the black hat with white lettering.
She also wore white sneakers, black pants, and a white button-up shirt.

If you think it seems just a little bit absurd that the media would be making such a big deal about the first lady wearing a hat that identifies her as the first lady, you’re not alone. “Oh my goodness stop the presses..a hat. It went from her shoes and now a hat,” commented Facebook user Jan Tholl. “I think Texans are just glad they are there and the President will aid them with whatever they need and not so much what the First Lady is wearing. Cmon mainstream report on Harvey,” she added.
“OMG… people have to find fault with EVERYTHING the president and his wife do,” seconded Lydia Sheppard Keiser. “I bet they even use the wrong kind of toilet paper…It is getting so ridiculous,” she commented. Social media user Jimmy Schneider expressed the same sentiment, writing, “OMG A FLOTUS hat. What will we do???”
This field day the media seems to be having over the first lady’s accessories is quite suspicious. Could they be trying to distract us from something, like, say, the fact that the Trumps are doing loads of good by responding to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey in person, something the Obamas could not be bothered to do when they were in the White House? Wouldn’t want the American people seeing any reports which paint the Trumps in a positive light now, would we?
The bias of the mainstream media has officially gotten out of hand. The president and first lady have gone to be with fellow Americans who are suffering in Texas and the press is literally trying everything to deter attention from their noble efforts. It’s disgusting, particularly because Barack and Michelle Obama were never treated this way. Those two could pass gas and the media would act as if they had cured cancer.
